  7. Nope the thing was built for real. Although it couldn't actually walk. It 
  8. was a genuine mass of pistons and actuators - although I think they used 
  9. much lighter materials than it appears to be made of.
  10. The final robot required five off-screen operators and could lift forty 
  11. pounds!

  13. Incidentally the design was based on Hammerstein - one of the ABC 
  14. warriors (who shared the pages of 2000AD with Judge Dredd).

  16. The film was a pretty impressive collection of effects tied together by a 
  17. typical Hollywood no-brainer plot. Now if Judge Dredd had been done 
  18. properly, at the end of the movie he would have arrested everyone citing 
  19. each and every law broken in the course of the plot. Also the hemet 
  20. should have stayed on.
